Teshuvah: to cleanse, renew, forgive, absolve what was and to renew afresh. In my painting you can see the female rising from the detritus represented by the opaque layer that is being washed away below, revealing a new day filled with life and new beginnings. Even the flowers are beginning to reveal themselves through the detritus.

“The Alchemy of Love”, painting ©Roger Gordon 2018
From the salt of our tears, and salt of our sweat has arisen good fortune.
We now dance beneath azure skies among fields of golden wheat.
Turning gold into loaves that we break among friends.
Celebrating life, we bake with love.
The wheat has risen once again
Becoming our staff of life and love.
My painting measuring 18” x 18” was created using Strathmore watercolor paper, Rives paper, watercolors, salt crystals and ink.
The ombre overlay has patterns created using salt crystals that were sprinkled on it while the paint was wet. Inside the ombre frame is my drawing (with a nod to Maxfield Parrish), of a Kibbutznik threshing wheat.
